The Functional Organisation – Organisation
Structure
This structure is organised by similar activities which are
grouped together by a common purpose or function.
This enables grouping of specialism and expertise with
smaller span of control in a tall hierarchy structure.
It can be good for staff to have career support and
development.
Below each Director, there are normally 5 managers and
below them 10 executives and then admin staff.
This type of structure is seen as less democratic as there are
more layers and more bureaucratic.
Does your organisations have this type of structure?
